Deoghar is the main city of Deoghar District in the Santhal Parganas division of the state of Jharkhand, India. having a temple namly Baidyanath-Dham is one of the twelve Shiva Jyothirlingams in India and also one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India.
Origin of name
Deoghar is a Hindi word and the meaning of deoghar is "Abode of God Goddesses". it is also known as "Baidyanath Dham", "Baba Dham", "B. Deoghar". The origin of Deoghar is lost in antiquity. Deoghar has been referred as Haritakivan, Ketakivan, etc. in Sanskrit Texts.

Baidyanath-Dham is one of the twelve Shiva Jyothirlingams in India and also one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in India. It is famous for the mela of Shrawan 5th month according to the Hindu calendar system.It is only one place in india where the jyotirlingam and the saktipeeth are both together and both are lay side by side. Here every year between July and August (month of Shraavana in hindi) about 10 to 15 million devotees come from several parts of India to offer holy water from the Ganga at Sultangunj this place is almost 108 km from Deoghar to present it to Shiva(BaBa).here we can see an unbroken line of peoples those are wearing saffron-dyed clothes stretches over the full 108 km for the month to offer holy water of Ganga to Lord Shiva.

Best place of tourist interest is Trikuti Parvat(Hill). It is situated 13 km away from Deoghar on the way to Dumka(Dist.) This hill also having a temple of Shiva known as Trikutachal Mahadeva Temple.There is an Ashram named "TRIKUTACHAL ASHRAM". Deoghar Tourism - Jharkhand | Baba Baidyanath Temple

Deoghar is a Devotional place, and this place is more popular as Baidyanath Dham, this place is considered as the  Sweet home of gods and goddesses. Baidyanath Dham is perfectly located in the state Jharkhand. Deoghar Temple is  one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples also known as temple of Baba Baidyanath. Baidyanath Dham temple is an ancient temple and is a famous tourist place for Hindu religious.
It is the only one place in India where the jyotirlinga and the saktipeeth are both together. Each year between July and August ( Hindi month namly Shraavana) about 10 to 15 million devotees come from different different places of India to offer holy water from the Ganga at Sultangunj to covering 120 km to lord shiva present in deoghar. An unbroken line of people in saffron-dyed clothes stretches over the full 120 km for the whole month of shraavana.

The main resaon of famous is housing the holy temple of Baba Baidyanath with a Jyotirling, which is apotheosize within its inner sanctum. The temple had observed by many reconstructions in the past years and was ruled by several rulers and ancestor including Guptas, Gidhaurs, Puran Mal, Man Singh and the Pujari Raghunath Ojha.

Dolmanch, Dumka, Harila Jori, Godda, Jain Temple, Kathikund and Kundeshwari are the most fabulous attractions points of Deoghar. for additional view, tourists can also make a visit to several ashrams such as Deva Sangha Math, Lila Temple, Pagla Baba Ashram, Rikhia Baba Ashram, Satsang Nagar and Many more Dharmsilas.

Besides these several ashrams and temples, Tapovan and Tarapeeth are other religious points for tourists. Trikuta Parvata, Hathi Pahar, Hazaribagh and Nandan Pahar are the  hills stations and these are having many more small temples. The Shivaganga and Mansarovar are the holy ponds located in the Deoghar.All Tourists and devotees take holy dip in these ponds after that make a prayers to the Lords enshrined in the temples. Besides, these ponds have religious and mythological significance as it is at these sites, Ravana handed over the lingam to Lord Vishnu, disguised as a Brahmin.
